A type of a window curtain

Let’s start with kitchen window curtains. Many people like a bright, open, and airy feel to their kitchen. Natural light is a great way to get that feeling. For this reason a lot of people choose a style of window curtains known as cafe curtains. Sometimes these window curtains are also called tiers. These are window curtains that are not hung from the top of the window, but from a point close to the middle of the window. Some people hang the curtain rod for cafe curtains at the midway point of the window while others hang it about 1/3 of the distance from the top of the window. Either way is fine, but make note of where you hang the rod, because the size of the cafe curtains you’ll need to cover your window will depend on this fact. Often cafe curtains are topped off with a window valance at the top of the window, hung where ordinarily you find a window curtain rod. A valance is a window treatment that hangs only a few inches below the rod and only covers a small part of the window. They are often found in coordinating patters and shades with cafe curtains in your favorite store.

For the other rooms in your house chances are good that you’ll want window curtains that cover the entire window, for privacy, light blocking or decorative purposes. The first kind of window curtains available are tab top window curtains. These curtains are very easy to install and give your room a nice, casual feel. The window curtain rod is threaded through loops (or tabs) at the top of each curtain. Tab top window curtains are easy to slide across the curtain rod, a consideration if you know you’re going to be opening and closing your window curtains frequently.

Window curtain panels are very popular as well. This type of window curtain has a pocket sewn on the top of the curtain. You thread the curtain rod through this pocket to hang the window curtain up. Window curtain panels can be paired with sheer window curtains or lace window curtains to give an elegant and traditional look to a room. These types of window curtains come in a variety of colors and patterns. Sometimes it isn’t easy to move these types of window curtains on the rod, so if you plan on opening and closing them on a regular basis then you might want to consider a tie back to hold the window curtain open.

The type of window curtain you select will be based on your personal style and taste, as well as the room where you are going to use them. There are many different styles of window curtains for you to choose from.
